A few weeks ago we were invited to the Asian Bride Live event, held at the Novotel Hotel Hammersmith, London. We woke up bright and early and set off on the London Underground. It was on a Sunday which made the Undergound a joy to travel on.
Nigar wore a skirt, which started to prove problematic. See, the underground, is very underground (much much more than the Delhi Metro), so when the tubes passes through it creates a gush of air which whooshes up the tunnels and makes things very windy. So back to Nigar, her skirt kept flying up. Did I try to help her did you say? Well I would have but I was too busy documenting the whole thing. Duh!
We hear the tube door close as we approached the platform. First rule of the underground; Never run after a tube train. There's ALWAYS one only a few minutes behind. Actually that's rule number 2. Number 1 is to stay on the right hand side of the escalators....for those silly people who want to run up on the left side. Why don't they just take the stairs if they like walking so much!
While we waited for the next train, we decided to photograph my outfit of the day. Well I was stuck with a lame photographer and she kept taking blurry pictures of me! So you'll have to make do with those.
Shirt, Necklace and clutch from Primark. Trousers and shoes from Asos. Rings from H&M.
We hopped on the train and took #notd photos while the passengers stared rudely. One thing about Londoners on the tube; they love to stare. Even when they know you can see them stare.
Our #notd: A chic white mani for Nigar:
and a soft neutral pink for me with a glitter accent nail; wearing Maybelline Color Show in Love This Sweater.
Plus my usual stash of arm candy (actually that's half my usual stash)
We decided to share some Coke as Nigar had skipped breakfast and I just needed my fix. Totally addicted.
An hour later, we arrived in Hammersmith, and on the way to the hotel we were behind this lady. I know it's mean to make fun, but she couldn't even walk in those shoes. She kept wobbling side to side.
Heck, her feet didn't even fit in the weird fugly shoes.
She stopped to take a break and we carried on.
My Asos Harlequin shoes. So so comfortable. I love them so much I have them in 3 colours :D
On arrival to the venue, we saw the photobooth and jumped right in.
My one irk? The white washed photos; I know a lot of Asian people want to look "whiter" but seriously. I could be in a Fair and Lovely ad.
and then I got distracted by the ice cream. They were so cute and adorable.
We went to sign in and grab our goody bags,
and we saw the rickshaw. How adorable is it?
Nigar jumped in for a photo. I'd love to have this at a wedding.
We wandered around and got stopped by some people who are starting a radio station. They were doing a survey so I filled out the form. Although realistically do people listen to much radio anymore?
Nigar recording someone playing the piano. Guess the tune? I'll help ya; song of the year for 2013!
We then got distracted by another photobooth....
ANOTHER white washed photo: please stop with trying to make us look whiter. I happen to like my skin colour. We did have fun inside both photo booths though.
There was a competition where you could win the hire of this beautiful car for the day. We both entered. I lost, and Nigar won third place (a percentage off car hire, so boo)
The guy was really nice and opened the doors so we could take a seat inside.
Nigar asked for the hat and she was ready to go. Pity she can't actually drive...
We both agreed we need a car like this with a chauffeur to drive us around on a regular basis. Offers anyone?
Nigar got distracted by some sweets and I got really happy as there were free pani puris on offer.
I convinced her to try one (she's never had them before). They were so cute looking and full of promises.
Except they were awful. So awful I had to spit it out. Poor Nigar, I don't think she's in a hurry to try them anytime soon.
We wandered around until we found the flower wall, and decided this was an appropriate time to pose for some photos.
Looking back at these photos I'm now missing my hair as I chopped off 6 inches 2 weeks ago...
We went off once more and saw this cute grass elephant.
Nigar had to kiss him obviously.
She then got distracted by the Mexican stand and took the sombrero off the guy in charge.
Who suits the hat better?
They were running a competition. Guess the number of pinto beans in the jar.
We finished up the rest of the exhibition, and paraded off home. Of course we had to stop outside the L'oreal HQ and take some photos. Coz you know we are totally worth it!
